Open to participating districts K-12 students in the Southeast Iowa Region
Online instruction
VIBE Virtual is our all online instruction option. We offer this virtual program to all K-12 students in the Southeast Iowa region.
Students receive virtual instruction given synchronously during Google Meetings & asynchronously through videos & assignments on the academic CANVAS platform.

- Access to the quality, research-based curriculums BCSD uses
- Schedules can be somewhat flexible
- Work in the comfort of home
- Work hand-in-hand with educators to meet the needs of the student
Optional in-person activities
VIBE Virtual students have the option to come into James Madison Education Center (JMEC) for our in-person activities.
This connection to teachers and other students makes this program very different from the typical online learning program.
Students have the option to come in for specials classes every Thursday from 1:00-3:00 pm (for K-8 students) or for FAT (Fun Activity Time) Fridays at the 9-12 levels from 12:55-1:55 pm.
While here, they’ll enjoy a variety of offerings such as:
- Optional in-person learning supports
- Optional social activities & classes like: art, music, pe
- Optional events with ISU (Iowa State University) Extension Program
- Optional events with Green Iowa
- Optional field trips and other special guests that enhance the learning experience
Extracurriculars
VIBE VIRTUAL students are encouraged and able to participate in all or some of the following in their home districts:
- Band
- Choir
- Theater performances put on by your home district
- Orchestra
- Sports
- Dance
- Clubs
- School dances
NOTE: Good standing with grades are usually needed for participation in most extracurriculars at home schools. Check with your home district to see what constitutes “good standing.”
