ParentSquare

What is ParentSquare?

Burlington Community School District has adopted ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text, and app notifications. ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number.

Though you do not have to download ParentSquare to receive notifications, we encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.

CANVAS announcements

Classroom teachers may also make announcements about their specific classes on the academic platform, CANVAS.

You may view these announcements through your child’s account or pair your email to your child’s to get these notifications.

Canvas announcements are NOT sent via text message.

You can also download the CANVAS for Parents app to a mobile device.

If you would like to pair your email to your child’s CANVAS account, call Mrs. Evans in the Registrar’s Office at 319-758-0060 x 1812

Gmail

Burlington School District uses the Google Suite platform and most of its offerings, including Gmail.  This is a personal, private email system dedicated to students, teachers, and staff of the district.

Students can only receive and send emails from each other or staff of the district through this system.

Teachers and staff may use Gmail to communicate with your child.

When assignments are graded, CANVAS automatically sends an email to a Gmail user.

Younger students will probably need help with this feature.  All Chromebooks have direct links to Gmail on the desktop as well. Look for the multi-colored M.
